Editorial Calendar World-Region-Country IAA Credit Union Picks Mahalo Banking for Nationwide Digital Overhaul The selection is driven by IAA’s unusually distributed membership model. Unlike most credit unions, which anchor their services to a local branch footprint, IAA’s nearly 18,000 members are spread across every US state, making digital channels the primary mode of interaction rather than a complement to in-person service. That dependency raises the stakes for platform quality and reliability in a way that is structurally different from a community credit union selecting a digital layer on top of branch banking.
The new platform will be tightly integrated with IAA’s existing Corelation KeyStone core processing system, a relationship Mahalo positions as a commercial differentiator. Key capabilities rolling out include online account opening, self-service certificate management and a consolidated single-login experience that allows members holding multiple memberships or family accounts to manage them under one set of credentials. The current arrangement, which requires separate logins per relationship, is a friction point the platform change is directly intended to resolve.
Emily McLeod, chief experience officer at IAA, said the credit union required a technology partner willing to build around its specific operating model rather than expecting the institution to conform to a standardised offering. “Mahalo’s close alignment with Corelation gives us confidence that we’ll be able to move faster, deliver new functionality more efficiently, and provide members with the modern digital experience they expect,” she said. IAA also cited Mahalo’s collaborative culture and accessibility as factors that distinguished it from alternative vendors during evaluation.
Denny Howell, chief operating officer at Mahalo, described IAA’s nationwide membership as the defining requirement, framing the platform as built for flexibility and scalability as the credit union grows. The credit union digital banking market is a distinct and competitive segment within the broader banking technology stack.
